MPRN numbers

What is an MPRN number?

Short for Meter Point Reference Number, this is a unique identifying code for your gas meter, sometimes known as a gas supply number. This code is separate from both your customer reference number and Meter Serial Number (MSN), which are a series of letters and numbers and can be found on your gas bill.

Your MPRN number is exclusive to your property, not the energy supplier so, this number remains the same even if you switch suppliers (although you will need to give your MPRN to the new supplier). Your MPRN will be between 6 and 10 digits, usually beginning with 74 or 75.

Where do I find my MPRN?

The gas MPRN number can be found on both your meter box and, also, on your gas bill – this will be highlighted in a box for easy reference.
